Now, to read that legs like mine are actually being considered desirable is bizarre to say the least. Offhanded or pointed comments from others in peer groups or even adults make it extremely difficult for young people to develop a positive body image: the features of my body I dont love are generally not ones that I developed a sensitivity to on my own, but those that other people commented on at one time or anothersounds like the same is true of Nicole, below. We should all keep this in mind in our discussions with girls or boys, and if a child does have a weight issue, make sure its approached in a manner that doesnt focus on their body, but their health.
